from Africa

This would have to be my favorite picture from Uganda!
It was taken at Bujagali Falls near Jinja.

Kampala

The view of Kampala from Nemerembe Guest House, which is up the hill directly behind Sanyu.

Driving around Kampala

A matatu - a cab that people take

Took this pic for the hubby. Told him that I did not want him working in construction in Uganda! ;-)

The view of Kampala from Sanyu

One night we got to see the moon! It was beautiful!

While in Kampala, I managed to get some pictures from around the town. I learned a few L'Ugandan phrases while made the locals a lot nicer to a little mzungu like me. The men, for whatever reason, liked to talk to us in high-pitch voices. It was hilarious! All of us get marriage proposals at some point or another on the trip, which was another funny. Even though I would tell them that I was married, they still didn't understand why I said no.
I enjoyed my time in Uganda. I wish that I would've gotten the courage to take a boda-boda sooner, but hindsight. Some day I would like to take my hubby and go back. Some day.

Sanyu Babies Home

These are some pictures of around the orphanage where I stayed while in Uganda. These pictures are of the guest house and where the children stay. I will upload pictures of the children into another post because there are a bunch of them!

Ndere Dance

These ladies were amazing singers!

Annika (NC, USA), Kim, Michaela (WI, USA), Catherine (Canada)
It was great to meet new people from all over the world while staying at the orphanage. I hope to keep these friendships for a long time!

Rachael (UK) and Marilyn (France)

The drummers from Rwanda were amazing! The drums were very heavy, so it was hard to believe they could balance them on their head. This man was even kicking his drum with his foot!

Doing acrobatics

Yes, those are pots on top of their heads!

On our first Sunday in Kampala, a group of us went to the Ndere Centre to see the dance troupe and have dinner. They performed several dances from across the Uganda region, as well as, hosting troupes from other countries like Rwanda. It was amazing to watch and a great start to the trip. The food wasn't too bad either.

Update

So I know that it has been a long while since I have updated, but most everyone knows that I have been a bit busy. Well, a lot busy actually. I finally arrived home last Friday from spending one month in Uganda, Africa. It was a trip of a lifetime, and I am so glad that I did it. I told Nathan that I definitely want to go back some day as long as he goes with me. There will be lots of pictures, and it will take me a bit of time to get them all up.
I am still a bit tired from the trip but have been sleeping a lot better than when I first arrived home. The girlie and I are re-adjusting to having each other around again, and I am excited to get to spend some time with her over her summer break. She has one week of summer camp left in a couple of weeks, and I am hoping to find a VBS for her to do in August. It is extremely hot (something I did NOT miss), so we don't get much time outside. But it's nice to just have time with her to relax, play, and hang out. She also loves helping me around the house, which I'm hoping will stick around as she gets older.
So be patient, and the pictures will come around. Until then...
