First Day of School

Our Girlie started kindergarten. Kindergarten! When did I become the parent of a kindergartner? She was very excited that she was going to ride the bus again. I am very excited that she still loves school. I pray that she still has that passion in 5, 10 years.

Florida

Nathan and I took a trip to Florida for my annual visit. On our way down, Nathan surprised me with a side trip to the beach and to a lighthouse. Then next the day we went to Universal Studios. On Monday, we had my doctor visit and headed home. It was such a fun trip. Nathan and I don't get time to ourselves very often, especially over night trips. It was so relaxing and a nice time away. I am so thankful that Nathan could take the time off of work to do the trip with me, and also for my parents being able to drive down and watch Emma.

The World's Largest Crayon

Daddy always comments that Mommy is never in any pictures, so she took this one.

As part of the Crayola Factory there is a Canal Museum as part of the tour. It is an hands-on display that teaches kids how canals worked and what they were used for. For us it was a time for Emma to play with boats and water. It was such an enjoyable time, and Emma did such a good job while we were there.

The girlie and I took a long weekend trip up to PA to visit Gramma and Papa Holbrook before school started. While there the girlie took her chaperones to the Crayola Factory to play. They have different stations set up throughout the building for kids to do interactive crafts that utilizes all of the Crayola products. They also give you tokens when you arrive that you can use to "buy" markers, crayons and modeling clay throughout the time that you're there. Then you can go to an area that is set up to look like the factory, and a man shows you how the crayons are made. It was a great time, and I'm glad that all three of us were able to go.

Riverbanks Zoo

It has been an amazingly crazy time around here! It seems that the summer has just flown by, and now the girlie is back in school. The past few weeks were extremely busy, so I have been very slack in posting. There are lots and lots of postings coming soon, so be ready!

We were able to go w/ some friends to the Columbia, SC zoo. It is a lot more condensed, so it's a bit more kid friendly in terms of them walking around. Emma really enjoyed the giraffes and elephants. She did NOT like all of the birds. It wasn't extremely hot, but it was hot enough that at the end of the day, we were all worn out. We definitely want to go back, maybe when it's not so humid.

Ready to go!

The kangaroos were taking it easy.

Emma LOVED the elephants.

Emma was excited to feed the giraffes.

Our day ended w/ the penguins. We had so much fun!
